Ottumwa, Iowa First Church of the Nazarene

This meeting had been saturated in 24 hour round the clock prayer for several weeks.

The revival meeting with Duane Smith was highly successful, especially from the aspect of strong holiness messages.  Evangelist Smith’s music ministry was most inspirational.

Attendance was strong, with one of the best Sunday A.M. attendances in the last 8 – 10 years.  The altar and front pews were full on at least 2 occasions with many finding glorious victory.  Several sought heart holiness and experienced the second blessing, two of which were career age youth, who attend the local Junior college. 

A unique thing occurred on the weekend when a young woman who received help some 27 years preceding in a revival with the Smith’s, testified as to the tremendous influence Duane and Ruth had played in her life.  (Read Pamela’s Testimony Below) On Sunday morning she sang, “Thank You, For Giving to the Lord.”   Pamela, her husband, Bob and 16 year old daughter, Tiffany traveled approximately 150 miles just for this occasion.

The atmosphere of the entire revival meeting was; expectancy, joy, and obedience! We greatly appreciated the fellowship with the Smith’s.

Pamela Morrill's Testimony 

I remember giving my life to Jesus at camp when I was 12.  When the Smith's came for revivals to my church, I remember seeing something about them I hadn't seen much.  They were both so sweet and loving.  They seemed to be really real and Duane had me sing with him.  So, I have to say they touched my life and of all the people I have known in the ministry in my lifetime, they are among the few that have truly left a God kind of impression on me!  I feel privileged to know them and blessed that God would use me 27 years later to come to the Ottumwa, Iowa revival and sing in their honor.
